PUBLIC NOTICE FROM THE WATER SECURITY AGENCY

Water Security Agency (WSA) plans to shut down diversions from Lake Diefenbaker into the Upper Qu'Appelle River during September and October of 2019 as part of its ongoing program to address issues related with erosion and water quality, and to improve the conveyance capacity along the channel. Flows will tentatively be staged down beginning on September 15 and flows will be turned off completely on September 22 for an estimated 3-week period. The work is expected to be completed in mid-October after which normal flows will be resumed.

The above mentioned scheduled is subject to change depending on hauled material quantities, weather conditions, and the contractor's availability.

The 2019 channel maintenance work will include installation of rock riffle grade control structures. The riffle structures will provide significant fish and aquatic life benefits and will improve the stability of the channel, thus improving the water quality in the channel.
